INTERNATIONAL STANDARD BMX TRACK

An international standard BMX track fulfills all the International Cycling Union (UCI) requirements and rules for international events. It can and should also be tailored for local riders. EliteTrax will be able to suggest a track design that is suitable for the specific needs of such track.

For development purposes, it is important to build a challenging, yet safe track where riders can develop their skills. In many cases, a divided straightaway offering an “Elite section” will cater for the needs of both younger riders as well as elite level riders.

BMX SUPERCROSS TRACK

The BMX Supercross track is the next generation type BMX track and is considered the standard for top-level BMX racing, catering to the very best riders in the world.

A BMX Supercross track is similar to a traditional BMX track, however the track is much more challenging, with major double-jumps, step-ups, and a very technical “rhythm section”. The track will also feature a large 8 meter scaffold start ramp, which enables the rider to gain the necessary speed. BMX Supercross tracks are the standard for the Olympic Games, BMX World Championships and the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup.

BMX SX COMBO TRACK

The BMX SX Combo track was introduced for the first time at the 2010 UCI BMX World Championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. It combines the highly technical BMX Supercross track for the elites, with a traditional style BMX track for the challenge level BMX riders. If features two scaffold start ramps, the well known 8 meter high SX ramp, plus the 5 meter Challenge ramp. The 5 meter Challenge ramp is the new standard for UCI BMX World Championships (as used during the 2009, 2010 and 2011 UCI BMX World Championships).

MAJOR EVENTS & PROJECTS

Major events such as the Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games and other regional games/continental events will use the type of BMX track mentioned above.

EliteTrax acknowledge that major events and projects need more lead up time and consultancy. EliteTrax is able to share it’s experience in all stages of the project, with additional meetings, drawings (CAD). A construction will most likely also be divided into several construction phases over a lengthy period.

ALL TRACKS

EliteTrax will supply a technical drawing as well as a 3D drawing of your track. Futhermore, EliteTrax will administrate and work directly with UCI in order to have your track receive a UCI BMX track certification.

MAINTENANCE PACKAGE

A BMX track is build out of living material, and needs regular maintenance to keep riders safe and happy. Depending on the location and what material the track is made of, a BMX track needs an annual maintenance apart from the regular sweeping etc.

The experienced EliteTrax team can come once a year (before the season starts or before a major event) to make sure your track is in a pristine condition.

ON-SITE CONSULTANCY AND DRAWINGS

EliteTrax is able to assist in the initial stage of a BMX track project. There are many things to consider and EliteTrax experience enables valuable feedback in the early stages, meeting with the local contractors, etc. This could be things like:

  • Site, location and position of the track
  • Choice of material, riding surface
  • Choice of equipment
  • Advise in what type of track (suitable for the local clubs needs etc.)

Normally this would be a 2-day visit, where the organizer is obliged to arrange travel and accommodation for the EliteTrax builder. In addition EliteTrax is able to provide detailed drawings of each step of the construction, making it easy for even a non-experienced contractor to build a track.

REBUILD OF EXISTING PERMANENT TRACK

The technical skill level of BMX athletes is constantly in progression. Tracks that only a few years ago were considered challenging are now becoming too easy, not offering high-level BMX athletes the necessary challenge. The EliteTrax builder will be able to suggest solutions of how to update an existing BMX track to today’s standard of an international BMX track.

In many cases, a divided straightaway offering an “Elite section” will cater for the needs of both younger riders as well as elite level riders.

START RAMP CONSTRUCTION

The main feature of the BMX Supercross track is the start ramp. The start ramp is 8 meters high, 10 meters wide with an 18/28° sloping angle. The footprint for the start ramp is 26 meter x 10 meters wide. Normally the start ramp consists of scaffolding components and a custom-built non-slippery top deck. EliteTrax is pleased to offer turn key solutions for BMX start ramps, please see here.
